Argument from Personal Incredulity
Simply put, this fallacy occurs when a person either can't or won't "get it" and, therefore, refuses to believe what the opponent is arguing.
As a general rule, whether you understand or believe something or not has no bearing on whether it is, in fact, true. Simply because I don't believe in bacon does not change the fact that bacon is real.
Example:
Have you seen the Netflix movie Don't Look Up?
Yeah...
Example: I don't understand what the first paragraph of the "String Theory" Wikipedia page means; therefore, String Theory is wrong.
Similarly, I have no idea how heavy planes can fly. I guess they don't. ✈️🔥
Example: If Global Warming was real, everyone would have to change their lives! New laws would have to be passed, I couldn't drive my Hummer H2 to work every day, and my house would flood because of rising ocean levels. I can't handle that. Obviously, Global Warming is nonsense.
